The last day of the WTA Tour Championship 2003. Kim Clijsters won the last tournament of the season for the second consecutive time. Clijsters defeats Amélie Mauresmo 6:2 6:0. It’s over

8 woman, 6 days, 3 Million Dollars, one champion.

The big show in Los Angeles is over. After six days of great tennis we have a new champion, Kim Clijsters of Belgium.

It wasn’t quite an exciting final. Clijsters won her match easily 6:2 6:0 against Amélie Mauresmo. Mauresmo didn’t play as well as she did one day before in her match against Justine Henin-Hardenne. She made too many mistakes, her first serve wasn’t going very well and she was still very tired.

Clijsters did play fantastic; she was very concentrated. In fact Clijsters did a fantastic job and won 6:2 6:0.

Clijsters who won the tournament the second time in a row received 1.000.030 US$ but must give the No 1 position away to Justine Henin-Hardenne. The 30 dollars represent the 30 years of WTA tennis. During the Championships the players association celebrated their 30-year jubilee.

Kim Clijsters is the first woman to earn 4 million US dollars in one year with winning the WTA Championships.

After six days an exciting tournament is over.

And we can say:

7 women, 6 days, 3 Million Dollars and one Champion Kim Clijsters.
