Amelie Mauresmo wins her 10th WTA Tour Title with defeating Anastasia Myskina in the Advanta final 5-7, 6-0, 6-2. Only in the first set Myskina had the power to fight back, playing her 24th tournament had taken its toll. Myskina ran out of fuel in the second and third set. Amelie Mauresmo is the first one to win the Advanta title again after the tournament was taken from the tour schedule for the last two years.

The tournament could have been a steppingstone for some as a last chance for the Championships selection. Others canceled the tournament to keep some energy for the Championships in LA.

In the final it was obvious that both players are at the end of the season, they never managed to compete up to their standard. It was a baseline match for both players; they didn’t feel like running towards the net.

Myskina was left in despair hitting the court with her racket or wondering what to do with her hands on her hips. The exhausting three sets match against Petrova the previous day had already drained the last energy out of her.

Mauresmo thought it was only fair that she had won the title in Philadelphia. “You beat me last time in Moscow, now it is my turn”, she said to Myskina. The Frenchwoman collected the $ 93.000 check and $ 1000 in cash for her work.
