Bovina defeats Myskina in Filderstadt

Elena Bovina the 20-year-old from Moscow defeats compatriot and Kremlin Cup winner Anastasia Myskina. Bovina beats Myskina just under the hour in 55 minutes 6-2, 6-3. Bovina is now also leading the Head-to-Heads 2-0. She also won the first round match between the two Muscovites at the start of the season in Sydney, Australia.

Myskina who pulled out a win earlier defeating Alexandra Stevenson, who later retired with an injury, after losing the first set 6-0 and tie the sets at 1 all by winning 6-1 in the second. Myskina said that she had trouble picking up her concentration. In the match against Bovina she didn’t have the change to come back into the game like she did against Stevenson.

Myskina only held her serve once in the first set after breaking Bovina's serve. But she could not turn the set into her advantage after Bovina was leading 5-0 up to that point. In the 24th minute of the first set took her sixth game.

In the fifth and sixth game of the second set both players broke serve for the first time in the set. Myskina could not keep her serve from that point on and lost the set and the match.
