Barbara Schett produced another good display at the Madrid Open to reach the semi-finals by beating 4th seed and last year's French Open semi-finalist Clarissa Fernandez
Schett who hasn't had a good year by her standards only won her first match since January two weeks ago seems to be getting back to her old form. The Austrian's power from the back of the court was far too much for the Argentine succuming to a 6-2, 6-3 loss.
Iroda Tulyaganova from Uzbekistan enjoyed a win over Cara Black the conquerer of Conchita Martinez 7-5, 6-4 to also advance into the semi's.
Chanda Rubin's poor clay season seems to be on the up when she thrashed Paola Suarez 6-2, 6-4. Rubin was a beaten finalist last year to Monica Seles.
