Jennifer Capriati came back from 3-0 down in the third set to beat Argentine Paolo Suarez to book her place in the Quarter-finals of the Bausch and Lomb Championships The American who complained in the first round that she needed to improve her foot work and her game seemed to be sluggish again in the 3rd round clash. Suarez dominated the first set taking it 6-2 and breaking Capriati 3 times winning 37 points altogether compared to the number 2 seed's 27.

Capriati picked up her pace in the second set showing her opponent what she's capable of, her first serve percentage climbed up to 71% and didn't let Suarez break her serve on 4 occasions. The American claimed the second set 6-2.

Jennifer fell 3-0 behind very fastly in the final set and looked to be on the brink of losing her second clay court match of the season. But she rallied back to 3-3 the broke immediately for a 4-3 lead then held for a 5-3 lead but was broken back for 5-5 only for Capriati to break straight back serving for the match finally winning 2-6, 6-2, 7-5.

No trouble for Lindsay Davenport who absolutely crushed German Marlene Weingartner in just 43 minutes but struggled a bit on her first serve only 46%. But the American didn't need to play that high as she comfortably beat her opponent 6-1, 6-1.

She will now face Patty Schnyder from Switzerland after she beat 9th seed Meghann Shaughnessy 6-2, 4-6, 6-2.

Elena Dementieva beat Amanda Coetzer who has been playing fantastic clay court tennis in recent weeks was totally dominated by the Russian 7-6 (7-2), 6-3. Dementieva has struggled in the past since her US Open Semi-Final in 2000 but has continued her rise back into the top 20.

A surprise result with Lisa Raymond beating Jelena Dokic, Raymond isn't a clay court player and with Dokic winning some titles on clay she should have wrapped up an easy victory.
Monica Seles put her poor first round win behind her and totally dismantled Nathalie Dechy storming to a clash against red hot Justine Henin-Hardenne.
