Anna Kournikova did enter the tournament but was taken off the list of the $ 75.000 ITF Women’s Challenger Tournament. Kim Meeker, the tournament director confirmed that Anna Kournikova has pulled out with a thigh injury. ‘She's definitely out unfortunately. She's the highest profile person there is in tennis. There's nobody I would rather have had for the draw.’ Meeker said. Anna Kournikova’s entering the list was met with a lot of excitement in Dothan, the tournament director added.

Other players have entered minor league tournaments to get back in shape but Kournikova had to cancel her plans after she had to quit during her match at the Family Circle Cup last week.
