Jelena Jankovic advanced into the quarter-finals after number one seed Iva Majoli was forced to withdraw at the second round stage of the WTA Tour Grand Prix in Budapest
Majoli who won the French Open in 1997 pulled out with a virus infection and high temperature which means Jankovic will now meet Spain's Maria Sanchez Lorenzo.
Magui Serna the second seed was made to fight past Katalin Marosi, the youngster who came through qualifying took the Spaniard into three tight sets but the experience of Serna finaly prevailed winning 6-7 (5-7), 7-6 (7-2), 6-4.
France's Virginie Razzano who hasn't faired well on clay this season lost to unknown Slovakian Jarmila Gajdosova.
