Croatian Iva Majoli defeated Andreea Vanc from Romania at the Budapest Tennis Grand Prix. Majoli wins in three sets 4-6, 7-5, 7-5 to advance to the second round. Top seed Iva Majoli could turn the tide after being 0-5 down in the third set.
Magui Serna the Spanish second-seed who won a WTA title at the Estoril Open last week, took with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Angelika Roesch from Berlin Germany, and third-seeded Australian Alicia Molik defeats Stephanie Cohen-Aloro from France 6-1,
6-2.
The qualifier from Argentina Gisela Dulko who just turned pro in January 2001 upsets fourth-seeded Henrieta Nagyova from Slovakia 5-7, 6-1,
6-2.
Hungarian Petra Mandula is through to the next round witn an easy 6-2, 6-0 win over Cristina Torrens Valero from Spain.
In the second-round matches, Ludmila Cervanova defeats eighth-seeded Antonella Serra Zanetti with 6-1, 6-1, and Maria Sanchez Lorenzo beats Klara Koukalova 6-3, 6-1.
