Number one seed Slovenian Katatina Srebotnik was knocked out in the second round by German Qualifier Julia Schruff 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 at the Estoril Open, Portugal
The Slovenian tried to overcome the German after rallying through the second set and winning it but could not hold the match and stamp her authority to claim in quarter-final place.
Defending champion Magui Serna won 7 games in row to beat Hugarian's Petra Mandula after struggling through most of the first set eventually winning it 7-5 then playing a perfect second set winning 7-5, 6-0.
Henrieta Nagyova pulled out with a thigh injury during her clash against another qualifier Gisela Dulko with the Argentian leading 5-1 first set.
Other winners were Stephanie Cohen-Aloro of France beating Maria Sanchez-Lorenzo of Spain 6-4, 2-6, 6-2.
