Second-seeded Italian Rita Grande was a quarterfinal winner, but third-seeded Slovakian Henrieta Nagyova was not as fortunate Thursday at the Casablanca Grand Prix tennis tournament Grande easily leveled Slovakian Lubomira Kurhajcova 6-2, 6-0, but Nagyova was tripped up by unseeded Spaniard Marta Marrero 6-4, 6-4 on the outdoor red clay at Complexe Al Amal.

In Thursday's other quarterfinal play, Italian Antonella Serra Zanetti overcame Russian Anastassia Rodionova 7-5, 0-6, 6-2, and Slovakian Ludmila Cervanova outlasted Spaniard Gala Leon Garcia 2-6, 6-0, 6-4.

Friday's semifinals will pit Grande versus Marrero and Cervanova against Serra Zanetti. The world No. 60 Grande is the only seed still standing this week.
The winner of this $110,000 event will earn $16,000.
