Kim Clijsters and Lindsay Davenport both won easily through their second round matches but big shocks for Daniela Hantuchova who lost to Australian Alicia Molik Clijsters who continues her fantastic form from last week was no contest for South Korean's Yoon Jeong Cho winning in just under an hour, 6-2, 6-2.

The Belgians first serve percentage wasn't particularly high but she did win 78% of those services games. But the youngster clearly outclassed her opponent winning nearly double the points of the Korean player to gain a thrid round place against Paola Suarez.

Lindsay Davenport who is also in good form also won through pretty easily also in just under an hour beating Cristina Torrens Valero 6-2, 6-1.

The American who was out much last year with injury put up big service games without even letting the Spaniard gain a break point oppourtunity in the encounter.

This form she needs to carry on if she is to progress through to the later stages she next faces rising Italian Flavia Pennetta.

The draw as now opened dramtically with the late withdrawl of Monica Seles before her clash with French girl Marion Bartoli with a persistent ankle injury. Her place was taken up by lucky loser Evie Dominikovic taking her place with Bartoli coming out tops in a tight three setter, 4-6, 7-6 (7-1), 6-1.

Also the shock loss of Daniela Hantuchova to Alicia Molik, the Slovakian's game seemed to fall apart. Her first serve percentage dropped from 88% in the first set to just 65% in the last and also her unforced errors dramatically increased from 13 in the first set to 30 in the second. But the Australians statistics weren't impressive with only 39% of first serves actually in during the final set but wasn't broken once.

Hantuchova continues her recent run of poor form, losing early last week at the Pacific Life Open and now losing second round here where she was to be seen has a threat.

Perhaps the stress of the tour is already getting to the 19 year old who has only started receiving so much limelight since her victory last year at Indian Wells.
