Serena Williams returned back after her Australian Open victory beating Myriam Casanova of Switzerland to progress through to the Quarters.
Swiss teenager Myriam Casanova who is now coached by Melanie Molitor until Martina Hingis returns to the tour was up against World Number 1 Serena Williams at the Open de Gaz in Paris.
The top seeded American raced through the first set winning it 6-0, then closed out the match with a tight set winning 6-0, 6-4.
Serena looking for her second successive tournament title this year is up against a tough field. With the likes of Mauresmo, Dokic and Hantuchova in the draw she will have to play her best to repeat her success of 99 when she won her first tour title.
