Warriors Rugby Supporters Club Season review 2010 – 2011The Championship season was a good one for WRSC regarding events. There was a significant increase in attendance to events especially the coaches evenings. The first event of the year was Meet the coaches, headed by Richard Hill ably supported by Bruce Douglas, Andy Goode and Tom Arscott, and old hands Kai Horstmann and Graham Kitchener. Richard Hill presented his strategy for the season and used the players to illustrate his points. The question and answer session after showed the support that Richard isn’t afraid of straight talking and in fact welcomes it. Meet the Coaches reportThe next every was a little disappointing on the attendance front but certainly not on the entertainment. Nigel Owens the Welsh international referee came to speak to us and showed his talent for stand up comedy. His talk had those in attendance rolling in the aisles, with its mixture of anecdotes and jokes. Nigel Owens Evening reportJanuary saw the annual Meet the Players event which always goes down well with both the support and the playing staff. In April we had an excellent quiz hosted and compiled by the incomparable Rosemary and Lawrence Threadgold. There was a second Meet the Coaches night where RH laid out the strategy for the Play offs and again answered the questions from the floor with his usual measured candour. All in all a very good year of events and an exceptional from the fund raising side too. The Supporters club funds were more than doubled with the generosity of the support for raffles at events and on the away coaches. This enabled WRSC to donate £500 each to The Wooden Spoon, which was our designated charity, and the Worcester Warriors Academy which will help provide the supplements for the young players coming though the club. There was a donation of £50 to St. Richards Hospice in memory of Roger Davies. A new season is almost upon us and the planning events for WRSC is well in hand, kicking off on Tuesday 30th August (7pm for prompt 7.30pm start) with an evening with Richard Hill supported by some of the playing squad, TBA, in the Upper Sixways. Richard Hill will set out the strategy for the Premiership Season.
