Darlington have drawn Hartlepool United in the first round of the Carling Cup. The tie will see the two North-East rivals clash for the first time in over two years. Hartlepool United's Victoria Park will host the first Darlo-Pools derby in over two years on the 23rd August 2005.

Although the Carling Cup match is still a fair way away, predictions and banter have already begun between the two sets of fans as to the outcome of the match.
