Sam Aiston is set to return to his native North- East following successful contract negotiations between Darlington Football Club and the left-winger himself.

THIS PARTICULAR signing could possibly spell the end for young Jason St. Juste. The fellow left-winger has apparently not been answering calls from the club manager David Hodgson regarding the possibility of a new contract. Also with rumours of high-profile clubs supposedly chasing his signature it is difficult to see a future for him at Darlington.

The signing of Sam Aiston, however, has been met with mostly positive reactions from the club's fans. The player is well known at this level and is a well-respected by fans and staff alike. Shrewsbury fan Adam Rogers from www.themightyshrew.co.uk had this to say about the winger: "Sam Aiston – the most frustrating player in the history of football. A man with a ridiculous amount of skill but often very little idea of how to use it. A firm fans favourite over his years with Shrewsbury Town, Sam will never let you down, he gives it his all. Unfortunately this means he is far more likely to pick up cards than goals. If only he had a decent shot or cross in his armoury then this guy would be a worldbeater! He really, really, really needs a fresh start and a new challenge. Hopefully this transfer is just what he needs to discover his best form."
