Neil Alexander has put pen to paper, committing himself to City for the next four years of his career. The Bluebirds goalkeeper has been in scintillating form during the pre-season friendlies. News from CCFCSleepingGiant.com
He is known by City fans as 'Scotland's number one' - if he continues to improve, it is only a matter of time until the terrace chant is correct.
Alexander made a string of stunning saves on Saturday against players such as French World Cup star Youri Djorkaeff. There is little doubt that he has the ability to play at a higher level.
But Alexander today joined a growing number of young players committing themselves to the club by signing an extended contract, which keeps him at Ninian Park until at least 2006.
The 24-year old shot-stopper was ever-present during City's last Nationwide campaign and his good form did not go unnoticed - he was called into Bertie Vogts' Scottish squad for their tour of the Far East. Even though he didn't get a game, he still believes that it was great experience.
Striker Robert Earnshaw has signed a deal which ensures he will stay at Ninian Park until 2007, while highly-rated defender Danny Gabbidon has four years left on his deal.
Other players who have signed new contracts since Lennie Lawrence took charge are Rhys Weston, Willie Boland, Mark Bonner, Scott Young, all for two years, while Andy Legg and thirdstring keeper Mark Walton have signed for the new season.
