Despite what Lennie Lawrence thinks, Peter Thorne is sure that Campbell and Earnshaw can play together. "I don't see it as a major problem," said Thorne, who scored a spectacular goal against Bolton.

Lennie Lawrence has been experimenting during our pre-season friendlies, playing a three-man attack. However, the results have been indifferent and Lawrence is not convinced that Campbell and Earnshaw can play in the same side.

Thorne told the Western Mail: "I thought Earnie and Andy did well in the game.

"People talk about them and ask whether they can play together but I don't see it as a major problem. They've both got good pace and can work down the flanks.

"I don't see why we can't win promotion with a 4-3-3 system. We used it at the end of last season and went on that great run.

"It's only been in a couple of games that we haven't created any chances and not scored goals. Against Motherwell it was 10 against 10 because two players were sent off so that game was ruined while Wolves were a good side. I thought we played reasonably well against them.

"But none of the players here have been panicking. There are no major worries. We created a few more chances today and we looked like scoring goals."

Robert Earnshaw is an obvious favourite with the Cardiff faithful, but he has not been on top form so far. He has failed to score a single goal and has not replicated the skills that saw him make the Germans white with fear. Lennie Lawrence may leave Earnie on the bench on Saturday, possibly instead of Leo Fortune-West.
