| Langley to Join Jamaica Squad Despite Contract Clause |
| In a surprise U-turn, Cardiff City
midfielder Richard Langley has been allowed to be named in Jamaica's squad
for their upcoming friendly against World Cup winners Brazil. City owner Sam Hammam has insisted on putting a clause in Langley's contract that forbid him to represent his country again, similar to the stipulation put in Gavin Gordon's contract when he arrived at Ninian Park. Fortunately for the 23-year-old, common sense has prevailed and Langley will be allowed to join up with the squad for this weekends game as the Bluebirds have no match due to international call-ups. You would imagine that a game between Brazil and Jamaica would mean Langley flying all over the world, but he won't even need to leave Britain, as the game is being played at Leicester City's Walkers Stadium Langley will also be allowed to be part of the Jamaica squad for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers, if they do not clash with a City fixture. London-born Langley becomes the seventh City player to be involved in international squads this weekend. Robert Earnshaw, Rhys Weston and Daniel Gabbidon are with the Welsh squad, and James Collins representing them at Under-21 level, Neil Alexander is in the Scottish squad, Graham Kavanagh is hoping for his fourth cap for the Republic of Ireland, and experienced defender Tony Vidmar is with the Aussies. Best of luck to Langley and the Jamaican side has they take on the World champions in this exhibition friendly this weekend. |
