The hype has built this up to ridiculous proportions, but at last we kick off in the first division for the first time in 18 years, against a team managed by a player who played for us at this level over 20 years ago!

The Bluebirds, in their new “away” strip will probably field the side which lined up against Charlton Athletic in Scott Young's testimonial.

Unfortunately Peter Thorne, Scott Young, Gareth Croft and Gareth Whalley are all injured, and Spencer Prior is suspended. Gavin Gordon is also doubtful.

John Robinson and Tony Vidmar will make their league debuts.

Andy Campbell and Robert Earnshaw will lead the City attack at Millmoor.

Midfielder Leyton Maxwell is likely to be handed a substitutes' role after an impressive display at Forest Green Rovers in midweek.

A healthy away support of over 2,000 are expected to make the trip to South Yorkshire.
