City's pre-season ended on Friday evening with a 1-1 draw with AJ Auxerre at Ninian Park. Michael Chopra headed the Bluebirds in front before the break with a fine header, only for Luigi Pieroni to equalise with a penalty after Joe Ledley was penalised.

4,570 turned up on a warm Friday evening to watch many of Dave Jones' summer recruits make their first appearance for the club on home soil, as Auxerre made the trip from France fresh from their Intertoto Cup success.

An entertaining game saw Michael Chopra give the hosts the lead as he headed home a Steve Thompson cross, only for Auxerre to level things up only two minutes after the interval with Luigi Pieroni blasting home from the penalty-spot.

Attention now turns to next Saturday's opener at Barnsley. Over 1,000 fans are expected to make the trip to Yorkshire, with City anxious to get their Championship campaign off to the perfect start.
