Sri Lanka has been giving the cricketing world these magical cricketers who seem to possess a freakish edge over the rest. After doing diligent and exhaustive research for around 10 minutes i came to this startling conclusion: It is all mythology
Remember mythology (for those of you who hate it cause it rhymes with biology, just remember there is a connection and its in the logy). Now where did Ravan come from? Lanka of course. So what was wrong with him? Nothing except that he had 10 heads! Taking the theory further there were some more freaks in his household - Kumbhakaran who could sleep for 6 months at a trot and then gorge himself for the next, Mandodhari who could change forms at will (not a great trick as our politicians do it at a drop of a horse). This is all I read so if you have any more discoveries do let me know and I shall be duly freaked.
So now what is the connection to cricket? That too comes into focus with what Ram did. If only he did not invade Lanka we probably would have had Sri Lanka within our boundaries. That would have meant we would have had the freaks to ourselves! But since that did not happen we now have to deal with the following phenomenon:
Murali - The 10 fingered avatar who can ravage the opposition,
Malinga – A la Kumbhakaran, dormant for now, watch out when he is back.
Mendis – Darn his Mandodhari-like change of form with every single ball in an over. Those in the know, will realize that his first name, Ajantha, is a clue. And by the way, the M&Ms must be related, they make a pretty couple on the pitch, dont they?
So where do we go next? Get me a Ram first. Then lets look at Hanuman (Symonds anyone?) We got Lakshman so skip him for now. After that lets look for a dozen monkeys (a few are already there in BCCI, but they can’t play) so gimme a dozen playing monkeys. Throw in a Jatayu and of course we need a Sita. Anyone game?
