WOLVES boss Glenn Hoddle has been named favourite for the Charlton Athletic job after their boss Alan Curbishley decided to call it time on his 15 year reign at the Valley.

Charlton boss Curbishley announced prior to his side's final home league game of the season on Saturday that he would be stepping down at the end of the season, and the news has triggered a betting frenzy with the Wolves boss topping the bookies list.

The Wolves boss has come into criticism recently after a season which has been described by the Wolves Chief Executive Jez Moxey as "a complete disaster". Hoddle's Wolves side started the season as odds on favourites to win the league but yesterdays win against Norwich City means Wolves finish a massive 8 points from the play off places which Moxey admitted was the "minimum target" at the end of the season.

The Wolves fans too have had their say. Large sections of the crowd have been singing anti-Hoddle songs for several weeks whilst a banner stating "Hoddle Out" was paraded in the Northbank during the final home game of the season.

The Wolves Chief Executive Jez Moxey has refused to comment on the future of the Wolves boss - who has a current 1 year rolling contract - but his future will be clearer following the end of season board meeting at Molineux tomorrow.

However despite this seasons failure it still hasn't stopped Hoddle being linked with other clubs and a betting frenzy has left Hoddle top of the bookies list to replace Curbishley at The Valley.

The Hoddle-Charlton link has been talked about for some time and the former England manager is currently at 11-4 favourite with Tote Sport whilst Reading boss Steve Coppell sits behind Hoddle at 11-2.
