The chase by Wolves on the 31 year old Polish International has gone on for over a month and even resulted in Wolves Chief Executive Jez Moxey making the unusual step of flying out to Spain to try and push the negotiations along.

Frankowski's former Club Elche were desperate to keep hold of their star striker and his sale has angered club officials so much that the President of Elche handed his notice in on Tuesday in protest of the sale.

However Frankowski today signed a two and a half year deal for a fee starting at £1.4M and Glenn Hoddle is delighted to have got his man.

"I am delighted to have finally signed him. It has taken a long time." Hoddle told the clubs official website.

The striker has scored an impressive 116 career goals in just 182 career appearances and his goal scoring record is what the Wolves boss was attracted by.

"His scoring record is phenomenal." Hoddle added. "This is the last part of the jigsaw in the penalty box, he is a clinical finisher and we hope that will continue with us."

Frankowski will fly back to Spain on Thursday before returning to Wolverhampton on Friday to take part in his first training session which will be on Saturday.

If Wolves receive international clearance then he could be in line for an FA Cup debut against Manchester United at Molineux on Sunday.

* MAURICE Ross has signed for Wolves from Sheffield Wednesday until the end of the season. The full back's initial loan ended on Wednesday.
