WOLVERHAMPTON Wanderers sit just two points above the relegation zone tonight after their inability to defend. West Ham bossed the game and Teddy Sherringham's goal was nothing short of what the hosts deserved.

WOLVERHAMPTON Wanderers sit just two points above the relegation zone tonight after their inability to defend. West Ham bossed the game and Teddy Sherringham's goal was nothing short of what the hosts deserved.

Whether Dave Jones is on the verge of the sack is unknown, but the Wolves Manager is under huge pressure from the fans after losing again in The Championship. 

Abysmal defending and a mistake by Joleon Lescott gifted Teddy Sherringham a goal out-of-nothing at Upton Park on Saturday, but the well-taken goal from the former England International was nothing short of what the hosts deserved.

After spending £30M in less than four seasons, Wolves were battered by a West Ham side hungry for success. Davenport and Harewood both missed terrific chances for the Hammers and Kenny Miller hit the post in a rare Wolves attack, but boss Jones - who dropped Paul Jones after the welsh international was booed last week - defended his side.

"I was pleased with the level of commitment, the work-rate and the build-up play. But we didn't get our rewards today because the performance deserved a draw." Said Jones, who's side seemed happy to sit back and invite the Hammers onto them.

"We were a hundred times better than we were last Saturday, but when you are struggling to find your form mistakes really seem to count against you.We can play better but at least we showed more determination."

Jones took the bold step to drop Paul Jones after the welsh international was booed and had less-than-complimentary chants sung at him during the Cardiff game last week and the manager said that 'Jonah' was upset by the managers decision. "Jonah has had a run in the team - I left him out today and he's not happy about it but I have to stand by my decisions".

Jones also left young full-back Keith Lowe out of the squad. The Wolves Manager had said that Lowe had been the best player against Cardiff last week, but new loan signing Bischoff took the youngsters place....Explain that one!
