WOLVERHAMPTON Wanderers missed two penalties tonight in normal time, before missing another two in a penalty shoot-out and crashing out of the Carling Cup. Burnley go through at the expense of Wolves.

Wolverhampton Wanderers crashed out of the Carling Cup at Burnley after missing two penalties on a penalty shoot-out. Incredibly Wolves missed two penalties in the last ten minutes of normal time. Wolves have now missed 7 of their last ten penalties, a statistic simply not good enough!

The 'Anti Jones' brigade will be wanting Jones out again tonight, but Jones can't put the ball in the back of the net for the players. However questions on why Wolves are so pathetic from 12 yards must be asked and answered.

The first 45 minutes of the game was dire, the only bright spot being Seol's first goal for Wolves. The South Korean International knocked home Newton's cross from six yards in the 44th minute.

The opening of the second half started in similar fashion to how the first half ended......with a goal. However this time it was Robbie Blake who punished Wolves for some slack defending.

Both sides then had chances, but none as clear cut as the chance Wolves were gifted on the 85th minute mark. Carl Cort had the chance to win the game for Wolves from the penalty spot, but his shot was saved by Jensen.

However before Wolves knew it, the referee awarded another penalty in Wolves favour. Lee Naylor had been felled on the edge of the area, but after talking to his assistant, the referee awarded the spot kick. Incredibly Keith Andrews missed from the spot, his penalty too close to the Burnley 'keeper.

Wolves hit the woodwork twice in extra time, but the game headed to the dreaded penalties. Carl Cort, who had missed in the 90 minutes missed again in the shoot-out, whilst Burnley failed to miss a penalty. Naylor and Andrews scored for Wolves, but £2M signing Seyi George Olofinjana missed Wolves fourth penalty of the night as Wolves Carling Cup exit was confirmed.
