Wolves find themselves travelling up the M6 for this fixture versus Manchester City, second in the league (equal points but superior GD to Villa), but seven points behind Arsenal and have not won in four league games (D3 L1) with a local derby loss against Manchester United last weekend. Added to that, a poor polar defeat in Europe midweek. Wolves are on a five-match run without being beaten, a good time to meet Man City? Or will we bear the wrath?  

The signs are not favourable for Wanderers, who have succumbed to the Citizens in 10 of the last 11 meetings and who were last successful at the Etihad Stadium when Adama scored the goal that sealed it in 2019. Against the bottom sides, at home, Man City have won their last nine, aggregate score 36-0. Oh dear, and we all know Haaland likes scoring against Wolves too! Having said that, Exeter City managed to keep him out, shame about the other 10 goals!

On the line up, will Edwards make many changes? Can’t see it myself, so an opportunity for crowd pleasing youngster, Mateus Mané to have a crack again and try and cause a few problems. Incredibly he already has the most league goals (2) for Wolves, and goal involvements (3) for Wolves and is second for shots (12) and touches in the opposition box (15). Keep it up Mateus!!

One wonders if Strand Larsen will be on the bench? Leeds have come in for him with a reported £33M bid, but it has been rejected. What’s the boards threshold here I wonder? On other potential goings Edwards used his press conference to say nobody has been champing at the bit to go, apparently, and player are showing desire to stay. How does that fit with a number of our players wanting to represent their countries in this years World Cup? By the way, Rob also used the press conference to sing the praises of Mosquera, maybe to send a signal ahead of the window closing.

Some gossip on possible departures, Celta Vigo fancy having Fer Lopez on loan and Agbadou is being chased by Besiktas but yet to meet Wolves' expectation of £17m.

So, it’s Man City then, as mentioned a side that rarely gives any change. It’s a traditional 3pm kick off which is great, however my ability to follow will be thwarted by the fact I’ll be at Argyle to welcome along Luton Town, who, the last time I saw them was at Molineux with Rob Edwards at the helm. That 12.30pm KO means I am publishing this on Friday evening.

Enjoy the match and even though I rate our chances as slim (Bet365 are offering 10/1 …. far too low in my opinion) my hope is to see our lads keeping up the positive performances witnessed recently. Fingers firmly crossed folks! As usual, please leave your comments and thoughts below!

The excitement is almost too much to bear for tomorrow. A certain defeat and a certain relegation soon to be confirmed. No wonder you are heading to watch Plymouth Ivy - we will probably be playing them in the league at some point anyway

Chan starting the game instead of Tolu or Larsen, won't these managers ever learn.
Looks like a team set out to keep the score down, hope im wrong.
Should just go all out for a win with your best line up, what do we have to lose in our situation.
Any starting line up that includes chan doesn't fill me with much confidence but I hope he proves me wrong today but I can't see it.

Based on the 2ndf half no doubt Bod the mol mix clown moderator and a poster called "soft lad " ( soft brain) will be spending the next week stating Bournemouth is a must win and we can still stay up. West ham winning and even Burnley drawing but soft brain still thinks we can do it. Just click your heels together 3 times and head to kansas

Wrong line up from the start, its like playing with 10 men with chan he offers nothing.
No surprise we looked a lot better when he went off 2nd half.
Safe football from Edwards he played team 1st half to keep the score down, so I suppose it worked for him.
Not much good in our desperate situation is it.
And that jackson, all that speed and offers nothing, a complete waste of space.

Agree with some of the comments above. The match was over at half-time. We did look better in the second half but apart from Mosquera having a header bounce off the top of the crossbar, we didn't look like scoring. And against that, they hit the post twice. Can't be surprised though, away to Man City even if they haven't been in the best of form lately.

Great, highly enjoyable match, desire from the off, hard fought, determined, chances, misses, good support, deserved win …..
Argyle 1-0 Luton Town.

I followed our match, looked completely one way traffic in the first half and all over at half time. Pleased at least we did a little better in the second 45, but as expected and predicted, Wolves beaten again, by far superior opposition.

With Forest winning today , we are now 18 points from safety …… in January. Wow, astonishingly awful. With every week, the inevitable draws nearer.

Two home matches in a row now, Bournemouth and Chelsea. What to expect there I wonder?
