After the chastening events of Sunday afternoon v Chelsea, what better way to get the show on the road versus lower league opposition in the cup and in the form of Burnley?! Or is this just a banana skin awaiting us to slip up big time? It gets underway at Molineux at 7.30pm tonight.

We have to start favourites, and the bookies agree. I wonder if they watched us v Chelsea? Will GON go for a full strength or weakened team? I would like to think that whoever plays tonight will be working hard to get themselves onto the team sheet versus Forest this weekend. Certainly any repetition of the second half defensive collapse on Sunday will put us under real pressure again regardless of the opposition, whether Burnley or Chelsea.

Burnley themselves have had an interesting opening in the championship following their relegation. They have won 4-1 away to Luton, won 5-0 at home to Cardiff but lost 1-0 away to Sunderland last Saturday. Very early days, but they sit 5^th in the league.

On balance there were good things for Wolves on Sunday, mainly in the battling and guile, causing the Blues a lot of problems when we were going forward and in the first 45. Strand Larsen and Cuhna must take the credit for their efforts. That kind of approach would be very welcome this evening, however it will depend on selection, and we’ll need to keep more than half an eye on the recent goal scoring prowess of the Clarets.

We could always do with a decent cup run and despite winning the ‘league cup’ twice (albeit the last time 44 years ago), it must be said that our more recent record in this competition is really poor. A quarter final in 22/23 and 95/96 are the only times we’ve been in the last eight since Andy Gray delivered the trophy at the Old Wembley.

Let’s hope we get a bit of excitement and a win tonight, we could do with it!!

I will likely be unable to follow the match as I would like, however please leave all your thoughts and comments in the usual way in the below thread.

Very interesting starting eleven, let's hope that it works.
The club needs a victory to put the shambles of last week behind them, a loss will be devastating regardless of the team selection.
Wins bring confidence so come on lads, let's get to it.

Stroll in the park tonight, Burnley didn't offer much to be honest but a wins a win.
2 nice goals from the forgotten man Guedes, there's a player in there somewhere if he can get his head right.
Let's see if he's still a wolves player after Friday,I'd like to see him given a chance if he stays.
