Even though there has been nearly a month since the summer transfer window opened, there is little sign of Wolves completing any business to bring new players in to the club. As to be expected there is a great deal of press speculation about the ins and outs that might happen, but what do you - the long suffering fans - think. Who should stay, who should go, and who would you like to see brought in? 

Once again the Wolves hierarchy seem to have made it quite clear that there is unlikely to be huge investment in our team, and certainly implied that sales will need to fund new purchases. How much of this can be believed is hard to tell, but most fans will surely be hoping that some of the Fosun millions will find its way into the long overdue purchases needed to bring our squad on to a level playing field with those who finished near us in the Top Ten last season. Much of the attention is inevitably focusing on the potential sale of Ruben Neves after he appeared to signal a desire to move on, although there still seems to be some doubnt as to whether this will happen. Personally I think the club should do all it can to persuade him to stay as he is undoubtedly our most accomplished player, and a squad should be built around him, rather than looking at how much we can raise from his sale to bring in players who 'may' be able to replace him - players who so far it seems are not interested in coming to Wolverhampton!!

The club has already bid goodbye to John Ruddy and Romain Saiss, who have been loyal and enthusiatic squad members for several seasons and many fans are sad to see leave. Marcal has also returned to Brazil after - in my opinion - a less effective stay at the club. I often had my heart in my mouth wondering what his next mistake would be and whether he would eventually perfect a cross to our forwards!! 

Morgan Gibbs-White is also making the headlines after a successful season on loan at Sheffield United, as he is apparently wanted by Steve Cooper at newly promoted Nottingham Forest amongst others. Many fans seem to think he should be slotted straight into our midfield, whereas I have never been convinced he has the makings of a Premiership player and think it may be worth cashing in on his value if - as suggested - we could get £20m for him.

Chelsea are apparently interested in Rayan Ait-Nouri and I think most fans would be shocked to see the club allow him to leave after only one season, especially after allowing a potential replacement in Ryan Giles to go out on loan for the next season to Middlesboro. Another defender Dion Sanderson who spent most of last season out on loan last season is wanted by several clubs, and despite being brought back into the fold in January, it looks like he will be allowed to leave.

Fellow defender Ki-Jana Hoever  has also gone out on a full season's loan to PSV Eindhoven, whilst reports are that Nelson Semedo will be unfit for the opening day of the season, which only leaves Jonny as a recognised right wing back.

The situation regarding Joao Moutinho seems to be ongoing with no resolution in sight, so it remains to be seen whether he will be part of our midfield next season. There is also talk that Leander Dendoncker is on the radar of some clubs, and there is likely to be a mixed response from fans regarding the possibility of him moving on.

Up front we seem to be looking at the same faces as we have for the past two seasons, with no sign of any imminent incomings. At least Pedro Neto has been tied down to a long term contract, and although there has been some talk of bids for Raul Jimenez  being considered, nothing concrete appears to have developed. Once the season starts we can only hope that Daniel Podence will put more time in on the pitch than on the phyiso's table.

The other enigma of course is the situation around Adam Traore. Following his pretty much disastrous loan spell at Barcelona, where he spent even less time on the pitch than he did at Wolves, it would appear that his value on the market has fallen below what was paid for him, yet he is still reluctant to sign a new contract. It is a real shame for Wolves as he is one player who we all know has the ability to turn a game in our favour, but his head seems to be elsewhere, so we may as well either get what we can for him now and look to the market place - or better still put our faith in Chiquinho - or take a chance on him until January.

I have seen all sorts of names linked with Wolves, and to be honest I would rather wait until there is something definite to look forward to, rather than face the constant disappointment of being outbid or out-manouvred by clubs like Fulham or Notts Forest!!

One thing is for sure in my view. This is a make or break transfer window for Wolves and must be taken seriously by our leaders and our owners. We cannot hope to continue being successful in the Premier league, with ambitions to get into Europe, having the lowest paid Manager, employing the smallest squad, and allowing our best players to leave, whilst functioning as a feeder club for Grashoppers Zurich. If the club do not come up with some of the players Bruno Lage has asked for I certainly wouldn't be surprised to see him go, and it would take an awful lot for fans to retain any faith at all in the questionable skills of Scott Sellers and Jeff Shi.

The lack of signings is a bit worrying although the club do have a history of keeping their interest in particular targets quiet. Given that players have been allowed to leave and loan arrangements have been agreed for others I can only surmise that there is some confidence within the club that players will be signed for the new season. If not we will be flirting with relegation with one of the smallest squads in the division. There is still time so I will remain hopeful that something worthwhile will happen to raise our hopes for the forthcoming season.

I agree entirely that Wolves should try to keep Neves and, depending what reports you read, it seems as though he may be more likely to stay than it seemed at the end of the season. The club also sound as though they may be getting close to Moutinho signing again.
Personally I have had no particular problem with Dendoncker, or dead-donkey as though with no brain cell insist on calling him, but last season was his weakest. Brilliant in the away match against Spurs but too often not doing enough. If a decent offer came in I think the right decision would be to sell.
MGW's loan spell couldn't really have gone much better. Regular matches seem to have improved him and at the same time put him in the shop window. If £20m is a realistic fee, it's tempting.
If all four of those go, next season's midfield will be interesting.
The time was right to let Ruddy, Saiss go, good servants though they have been.
Up to now, Fosun have done alright. Ffp restrictions only finished in January and we still brought in Sa, one of the best goalkeepers in the Prem. and Ait-Nouri who, as you say, is getting interest from Chelsea. Now there are no restrictions, whether I still think they are doing well at the end of this window remains to be seen.

So the good news today is that, after his contract expired Joao Moutinho has signed a new one year deal. Good news as we know what he offers, and how influential he can be for our younger players, but we still need to bring in some new blood for our midfield even if - as most of us hope - Ruben Neves does stay.

The plan is to sell the club evidenced by statements from china re foreign investments in football. Fosun will do what is necessary to avoid relegation and that's it.. glad I've personally found other interests at the weekend rather than sitting in front of dodgy streams with the aim of the season mid table boredom and a " run" in what is now a tin pot domestic cup. It's incredibly boring and lifes too short IMO

I've just posted a brief report about the potential signing of Nathan Collins, a CD and position we need strengthening in, there again, name an area of the pitch where we don't?

Great about Moutinho, fingers crossed for Neves, however the same combination needed midfield reinforcements last season, so nothing has changed there.

Up front, still loads to be decided ...... Silva being pushed off to Belgium is an interesting one, not exactly a declaration of confidence in the lad. All players develop at differing rates, but he is now approaching the same age as Neves and Jota were when they both signed for us. Is he of that calibre? Maybe Anderlecht can squeeze a tune out of him?

Sad to see Chiquinho has been badly injured and this development puts even more pressure on Wolves finding a player to create a chance or two. Will Traore stay?? Who knows.

I see the latest this morning is that Wolves have reportedly rejected a £25M offer for MGW from Everton. Personally, I think the lad has deserved a go in our first team.

If we can compete the signing of Collins it will be a step in the right direction, a very capable player with lots of potential to become a mainstay of the team. It does raise the question of what formation Lage will employ for the forthcoming season and where Coady fits in if it's a back four. Perhaps moving back to a midfield position will ease that current shortfall situation.

Fabio Silva has now scored 5 goals in his first 6 matches with Anderlecht.
The Belgian League is nowhere near as strong as the Premier League so best not to read too much into it but hopefully he keeps it up and comes back next season a better player for it.

Don't know to much about nunes but what I have seen of him he looks a fantastic player and a real coup that wolves have talked him into coming to wolves. Hopefully he will be the real deal and the player we have been missing in midfield. Just need a top striker now to finish the chances. Wolves have spent a few quid the last couple of weeks and you would expect that they would like to get some of it back to balance the books, just hope it doesn't mean neves or neto leaving.

looks like someone is leaving but reports are saying mgw to forest in a deal worth around £44 million, I like morgan but if that's true wolves have a great deal which they would be crazy to turn Down.

I can’t believe how much Forest seem prepared to pay for MGW and it will certainly rest on Steve Cooper’s shoulders if they do so from their apparent bottomless pit.
As I said at the head of this thread, I have never really rated him as a potential Premiership star and think it makes absolute sense to cash in on him, especially when the other option being referred to in the press is Neto being sold for a similar amount. In fairness MGW is full of enthusiasm and effort but his skill level is still to be se3n at this level.

It looks like a bit of smart business to bring in Nunes and then hook Forest for MGW. I hope the latter doesn't feel misled by Lage about his importance as a Wolves player, but Bruno seemed careful to add that everyone has a price if the right offer comes in.

On the field is where it matters, and let's hope that gets better quickly.

I would have been surprised if Wolves hadn't have ripped Forest's hand off for 42.5 million for MGW.

he has some potential, but at the moment worth about £20mill.

Nothing against Morgan, but if this deal comes off it's too good to turn down. It's the money back for Nunes. Whoever negotiated this deal, whether it's Bruno, Jeff or Scott Sellars, is a genius.
Obviously he will turn it on when Wolves play Forest, you just know it.

It went well cheshire, Alistair Stewart hosted it and both candidates performed satisfactorily. I would have preferred kemi badenoch but out of the two left have cast my vote for liz truss.. Boris should have remained in post but that's a whole new debate despite the msm hysteria over "partygate". Gove has announced today he is considering calling it a day or at least implying it which indicates he thinks truss will win meaning he won't be in any cabinet. Good riddance to the treacherous snake.

Intriguing signing, as he looks completely at odds to the rest of the Portuguese style team - a big lad who can get in the mixer and head the ball.

Hope springs eternal, and I find myself, still, hoping Adama has finally come good, that Neto is back to his best and that Raul is not just a forgotten dream. Please please please, can someone, anyone, and soon take Hwang off our hands. Useless upfront , he gifted that equaliser to Newcastle. Dont want to see him again.

Dendonker leaving? And there I was thinking that we were short of options in midfield. So Neves, Moutinho and Nunes will be playing very regularly or is Connor Ronan better than I know. Heaven forbid we get any injuries. Very shortsighted in my humble opinion.

Donk balanced a midfield with Neves and Moutinho in it. He was a good defending midfielder, being a pest and breaking up passing movements. Also a bigger lad, decent in the air at corners and free kicks. And the only one of those three who'd make attacking runs into the opposition's penalty area.

So I agree, Lupy.

Good enough for Belgium but not for wolves apparently 🤡 . Much will depend on this new lad upfront and if he turns out to be a decent player but I recall the last time we signed CBS from relegated clubs and a giant Austrian striker... it didnt end well. The squad, tactics are unbalanced and scream championship next season.

I don’t know that Lupy, but a good point. All the home grown, I suspect, are listed in the u21s and u18s now.

It’s official now, Donk has gone to the bloody Villa. I would say good luck to him , but it’s the Villa …… however he has been a really good player for us, I wish him well. Thank goodness we have so much midfield cover! It is only 9pm, so perhaps there’ll be a rabbit out of the hat?

Dendoncker split opinion amongst supporters but I was always ok with him and sorry to see him go. He only had one year left on his contract however and Wolves have brought in Boubacar Traore from Metz on loan with an option to buy. I don't know much about him but he is younger than Leander and will cost less than we got for Leander. Depends how good he is but Wolves have been linked with him for a while and if he comes off it's a good deal.
Still sorry to see Dendoncker go though.

Typical of our luck to hear today that Kalajdic has in his ver first Wolves game sustained an injury to his ACL - not his first such injury!! Have to wonder whether the club will now try to recruit someone who is out of contract.

Terrible luck for both him and us and in an instant exposes an area where we were extremely light already. I know very little about Sasa’s previous injury, but you do wonder if we’ve managed to purchase ourselves an injury prone player?

As for plugging the gap, I don’t see Guedes as a centre forward and of course Raul is very much off form.
