Wolves take on Cardiff City who are the final team we have to play in our oppening four games that got relegated from the Premier League. Having already seen off both Norwich City and Fulham by a single goal to nil, Wolves will be hoping to complete the treble. However Cardiff have made a bright start winning two and drawing one of their opening three games and will provide a stern test.

The two sides have met 24 times at Molineux with Wolves winning 13 times to Cardiff's 7. The first meeting was back in 1921 on the final day of the season. This was the first season Cardiff City had taken part in the football league and required a win and for Port Vale to get at least a point of Birmingham City to be crowned champions. Cardiff did their bit with a 3-1 but vale lost 2-0 so Cardiff went up as Runners Up. 

The second meeting came nine seasons later as Wolves won 4-0 on April 14th 1930. That started a run of just one defeat in fourteen games between the two sides. This included Wolves biggest home win over Cardiff City, a 7-1 scoreline in 1966 as they went on to gain Promotion as Runners up. 

Wolves spent two seasons in the old fourth division and twice lost at home to Cardiff City, 1-0 in 86 & 4-1 in 88. Both sides have won three of the last seven meetings with a 2-2 draw in 2009 being the only game not won. A crowd of just over 22,00 saw Ebanks-Blake give Wolves an 11th minute lead which was cancelled out by  Chopra's goal on 31 minutes. Then three minutes into the second half ,Rodger Johnson, a man Wolves fans have come to hate, put Cardiff city in front before and own goal by Konstantopoulos squared it all up.
