The arrival of
Carlos Sainz at Williams racing has been a highly anticipated moment for the
team and its supporters and with his recent testing opportunity at the end
of the 2024 Formula One season at Abu Dhabi it has created a encouraging
level of excitement.
Now we are into 2025 and we have seen more details of Carlos's test with the
team and have also had the opportunity to hear from the man himself.
The arrival of Carlos at Williams was somewhat unexpected but for James
Vowles it came after a considerable effort aiming to explain the future
plans of Williams to Sainz.
Sainz would be given the luxury, courtesy of permission from Ferrari, of
conducting a file day as well as one day of testing with Williams at Abu
Dhabi. Aside from photos of the event little information was released by the
Williams team. But now with Sainz an official driver for Williams more
content including video has been made available.
The latest announcement came from the Williams team announcing the FW47
launch date on the 14th February. The team will then be involved in the
official F1 launch in London followed by pre-season testing in Bahrain.
Sainz would make comments about his arrival at Williams.
"It’s an important time for the team and we are all going to push to bring
Williams back to the front of the grid as soon as possible," said Sainz.
"I was very impressed with the team back in Abu Dhabi. After a long year, it
was great to watch the motivation and effort that everyone put in at such an
important test.
"Thanks to that, we’ve been able to put together a solid plan, and we have
already started working on it to make sure we are as prepared as possible
ahead of the pre-season test and first race.
"We're not far away from the Silverstone car launch, and I can’t wait to see
my new ride! 2025 will be an exciting year and we are fully committed to
putting together a strong season. VAMOS!"
Certainly not in the same limelight as Sainz team-mate Alex Albon also spoke
of his anticipating of Sainz joining him in the 2025 season.
"Everyone at the factory is working hard to get our car ready for the new
season," said Albon.
"Launching on February 14 should be a great way to start an important year
for us as a team, fighting as hard as we can with both cars from the outset
this year and looking forward to opportunities ahead in 2026.
"I can’t wait to see the results of the teamwork and dedication that makes
this team so special."
