Williams Racing is pleased to confirm that the team’s Academy Driver, Logan Sargeant, will compete in the 2022 FIA Formula 2 Championship.

Driving for Carlin, Logan will compete in the 14-round series, with each event supporting the FIA Formula One bill. The season, commencing at Bahrain International Circuit in March, presents the most sizable calendar since 2017, comprising of 28 races in total, two at every event.

As an Academy Driver, Logan utilises his experience to conduct a comprehensive simulator programme, helping with the team’s car development. The American driver has also joined the team trackside on several occasions, including running in the 2021 post-season Abu Dhabi test, gaining an all-encompassing understanding of how the team operates.

Speaking about his FIA Formula 2 programme, Logan said, “This is an incredible week for me! To get my first taste of the Williams FW43B tomorrow and then follow that up with three days testing in my new F2 car is just incredible. I can’t wait to re-join Carlin who have been so strong in F2 and get to work on our 2022 programme. Logan has most recently competed in the FIA Formula 3 Championship, undertaking an incredibly impressive campaign in his sophomore year and only narrowly missing out on the 2020 title, claiming six podiums including victories at Spa-Francorchamps and Silverstone. The American returned to the series for a third season in 2021 and added a number of impressive results, including four further podiums and victory at Russia’s Sochi Autodrom.

Prior to F3, Logan highlighted his talent by recording a third-place finish on his debut at the notoriously challenging Macau Grand Prix in 2019, as well as placing fourth in the Formula Renault Eurocup Championship the previous year.
