Team Summary:
With the start of the opening Friday session for the 2018 Italian GP the
drivers would have to contend with a very wet track with the majority of
drivers using the full wet tyre for their installation laps. The first time
would come from Hulkenberg with a 1m:38.567 running on the wet tyre. Further
drivers would come out with both Hass cars on intermediates. After a series
of quickest laps from various drivers we would have Sainz fastest with a
1m:36.995 from Hulkenberg and Verstappen with the top three all on the
intermediate tyre. After runs that would see them in various positions the
Williams drivers were tenth and 13th with just under fifty minutes
remaining.
Hamilton would go quickest running on the intermediate tyre with a
1m:36.866. Bottas was now third and Ocon fourth. At the front Bottas had
gone quickest with a 1m:36.238 followed by Hamilton, Leclerc, Perez, Ocon,
Sainz, Hulkenberg, Gasly, Verstappen, and Ericsson tenth. Magnussen was now
in seventh and Hartley eighth. The Williams drivers were now in 16th and
18th with Sergey ahead of Lance. The Ferrari's were 14th and 15th with
Vettel's car having an gearbox issue that saw Vettel out of his car. The Red
Bull cars were running and Verstappen would go quickest with a 1m:35.665 and
Ricciardo was 12th. Raikkonen would move up to sixth as the Renault cars
came back out.
Hulkenberg would go second and Sainz fourth. Sainz would go second ahead of
Hulkenberg seeing the top three now Verstappen, Sainz, Hulkenberg, Bottas,
Hamilton, Leclerc, Perez, Raikkonen, Ocon, and Magnussen tenth. Apart from
Alonso the track was empty. Both Williams drivers were still in their pits
with fifteen minutes remaining. Alonso would move up to 14th. The rain had
now stopped and the clouds were starting to clear. Gasly would go second
fastest as the track started to dry. Hartley was up to sixth with both Torro
Rosso drivers still on the intermediate tyre. Ricciardo was now up to third
behind Gasly. Hartley would go quickest with a 1m:35.024 and Ricciardo now
second with seven minutes remaining. The Williams drivers were now 18th and
19th. As the session drew to a close Raikkonen would go quickest with a
1m:34.550 but Perez would move ahead with a 1m:34.000 followed by Raikkonen,
Ocon, Hartley, Ricciardo, Gasly, Verstappen, Sainz, Hulkenberg and Bottas in
tenth. The Williams divers would remain in their positions well down the
order.
Lance Stroll:
Lance would also only complete a single lap running on the full wet tyre.
Lance would also return running on the intermediate tyre and would set a
1m:38.253 to see him ninth, dropping to tenth. He would drop to 12th pitting
after a six lap run. While in his pit he would drop to 19th and would end
the session in this position.
Sergey
Sirotkin:
Sergey would complete his installation lap running on the full wet tyre,
pitting after a single lap. Sergey would return and would improve to set a
1m:38.684 which with fifty minutes remaining he was tenth. He would drop to
13th. Sergey would find time setting a 1m:37.929 to be eighth then ninth.
Sergey would pit having dropped to 17th after a nine lap run. Sergey would
drop to 18th as Alonso moved ahead of him. He would remain in this position
with the end of the session. |
