Wales second row Craig Quinnell has been released by Saracens just five months and six competitive games into a four-year contract. Rumours about Quinnell's departure have been circulating in recent weeks and Saracens finally announced his departure on Friday night.

Commenting on the news, Saracens coach Wayne Shelford said that an immediate move would be beneficial for 6'6" lock if he is to return into the international fold with Wales.

"We wish Craig every success for the future. Knowing his strong desire to play again for his country, when a number of clubs expressed an interest, we all of us agreed it was best for him to move on straight away. We look forward to seeing him in the colours of his country once more."

Where Quinnell will end up is still unclear. His former club Cardiff have been mentioned as a possible destination but they have denied any link-up.
