Stewart Campbell joined the Tykes from the well known Treviso side in Italy. His previous teams include Glasgow and he is a seasoned international.

His signing has encouraged raids from across the border onto the Tykes message board singing his praises.

‘At last a club in England has seen the light. Stu Campbell is one of the finest forwards Scottish rugby had ever produced. He is a true example of the Scottish system, not some kilted Kiwi or West Country boy with a Great Grandmother who once went to Arbroath on holiday. Campbell is a machine, dedicated and professional. What ever the coaches ask of him he will do and he will lead the pack by example.’

‘As an exiled Anglo living north of the border, I again applaud Leeds RFC choice of player and I can tell you Leeds now have many Scottish fans who will follow the season with great interest.’

‘I once played in a university sevens game with Campbell. He blocked a conversion from a standing jump, not lifted like they are now. That was great rugby.’

Replacing Eddie Jones in the squad Campbell adds bulk and experience to complement Palmer and the Murphy brothers. He is still young enough to press for further international honours and joins a strong Scottish contingent in Leeds.
