Bryan Redpath has signed an extension to his contract which will should see him staying at Heywood Road until 2004. Furthermore, we are assured that plenty more players have signed new contracts to remain with Sale. Bryan Redpth was reportedly approached by Leicester and he was quoted in the Daily Mail as saying:

"It's going to be an extremely difficult decision because of Leicester's stature. I have a lot of thinking to do and I'll be speaking to their manager Dean Richards fairly soon."

But the news that he had decided to stay at Sale was confirmed by Dave Swanton today.

Rumours are flying around about possible signings of Scotland and Saracens lock Scott Murray and Bristol's Garath Archer. If memory serves correctly then Scott Murray was rumoured to be coming to Sale last summer, and The Times reckons he is "almost certainly" moving to Heywood Road. We might already have a good second row partnership of Iain Fullarton and Scott Lines but, provided the price is right, having another first class lock has to be good news. Every time Sale get a few injuries in the squad we go on about strength in depth, and indeed that is one of the factors that has contributed to the success of Gloucester and Leicester this season. So I'd like this rumour to be true. But of course it will probably turn out to be a lot of hot air now!
