Can we progress?

Injuries, injuries, injuries. Three fly-halves, goodness knows how many forwards and assorted backs have all been broken since the start of the season. Can Sale progress past the group stage? Do we want to, given the chances of more injuries from extra games? These are some of the ponderings from the message board:

Bankshark:

Saints have taken 5 points from Borders so we can't overtake them

So that makes things fairly simple - from the maths side ...

To get the 8th seeding and another trip to San Sebastian

First, we must win with at least 4 tries, and also we have
3 rivals for the last qualification place: Castres, Wasps and Leicester.

They have all scored more tries than us, so none of them must pick-up a
bonus point next week.

Castres and Wasps are in the same group but it doesn't matter who wins
as long as the other team does not get a bonus point.

Leicester are away to Munster!

Brompton Shark:

This may be perceived as heresy, BUT .... do people not feel that we'd be better forgetting about the HC this year and concentrating on the Guinness Prem to secure qualification for the HC next year!

.... only a thought!

Tigger too:

Of course we want to go on. Considering the injuries we have suffered It would be a miracle if we go thru' to the knock out stage of the HEC. It would be a huge boost for the team and supporters. So next week lets just go out and give it 100%. If we lose then lets go down fighting!

Can we do it? Will it be for worse if we do?

Saturday will tell...

Addendum:

And tell it did. Leicester won, we lost. Out of the cup for this year. Will there be one next year? That's for the future to tell...
