Bristol started as they meant to go on with a wide variety of good-humoured abuse directed at both teams,the match officials and Gussie's Elvis-like quiff. The rugby wasn't bad either. Bristol appeared to be their usual well-drilled and guaranteed ringer-free selves and threatened whenever the ball was moved wide. Man of the Match, Olli Pool, helped himself to four tries (I think, but I'd had a bit to drink at this stage of the day). B**h managed a good try of their own in reply to Bristol's total, and a stunning one in the second half with their outstanding player Ashley Rowden marching Bristol back 40 metres towards their own line for some appalling and sustained acts of foul play (hem, hem) before finally punishing Bristol with a well-worked penalty try.

The final score was something like 65 - 15 as the Bristol side was generally younger, fitter and more familiar with actually playing rugby than their B**h opponents. As for B**h their outstanding performers, apart from Rowden, was the Number 8 (I didn't get a team sheet, sorry) who even managed a punch at someone (and fair play to him, I say), a level of competitiveness you don't often see in a charity match, and the guy with number 27 on his back who was a very traditional looking player. Kudos to him (and everyone else) for taking part.
