Temuri Ketsbaia, Juan Sara & Fabian Caballero all scored in an emphatic 3-1 victory at home to Motherwell. The performance from Ketsbaia in particular was very impressive and could be the missing piece in the jigsaw that Ivano has been seeking.

New Dundee signing Temuri Ketsbaia capped a man of the match display against Motherwell when he scored on his home debut for the club.

Juan Sara and Fabian Caballero also netted for the Dark Blues to hand new Well boss Eric Black his first taste of defeat since taking over the job.

Ready had given Motherwell a ray of hope when he levelled Juan Sara's opener on the stroke of half-time but the Dark Blues proved too strong for the Lanarkshire side after the re-start.

Ivano had to go into the game without the services of new signing Fan Zhiyi - whose visa arrived just too late to take part - but his other recent acquisition Temuri Ketsbaia immediately set about showing why Ivano was so keen to snap him up.

The Georgian could have made an immediate impact when he almost grabbed the opener after just five minutes - he met a Fabian Caballero cross only for the shot to deflect off the Motherwell defence.

The Dark Blues enjoyed the best of the chances in the first half but Motherwell's first opportunity came after nine minutes courtesy of a Hammell corner.

He flighted the flag-kick into the box and it was met by Strong at the back post.

He nodded onto Ready but Jamie Langfield managed to scoop up the ball before the defender could pull the trigger.

The combination of Ready and Strong were threatening again after 14 minutes.

Ready's header was blocked by Jamie Langfield and the ball fell to the feet of Strong just a few yards out but he somehow managed to send it over the crossbar from close range.

The home side quickly recovered to dominate for most of the remainder of the half.

Fabian Caballero was left ruing a miss of his own after 21 minutes when Gavin Rae went on a run to the byline before cutting the ball back to the Argentinian hitman, but he sent it over from 10 yards.

On the half hour mark Temuri Ketsbaia displayed the skills that prompted Ivano to snap him up when he took the ball round several Motherwell defenders before trying to set up Gavin Rae, but goalkeeper Brown came to the rescue when he just managed to turn the ball past the upright.

But the young keeper could do nothing to prevent the Dee's taking the lead just two minutes later.

Barry Smith's cross found Juan Sara, Ready tried to intercept to nod clear, but the ball fell to Juan Sara once again and he fired home off the inside of the post.

Dundee could have extended that lead six minutes before the break when Temuri Ketsbaia met a Barry Smith cross to produce a superb diving header but he was denied by an equally impressive save from Brown.

But with two minutes of injury time played Motherwell managed to claw a goal back when Hammell's corner kick met Ready at the back post and he nodded home the leveller.

Despite allowing Motherwell to draw level just before the interval, Dundee started the second half well and had several chances to reclaim their lead.

Just four minutes after the restart Fabian Caballero fed the ball through to Beto Carranza who fired a shot that fell across the face of the goal before sliding past the post.

Beto Carranza turned provider three minutes later to try to set up Sara for his second of the night but he sent the ball just wide.

It was to be Temuri Ketsbaia who would grab the goal to cap off an impressive performance.

Fabian Caballero released the Georgian and he went on a superb run that took him 30 yards before driving the ball past Brown after 54 minutes.

The home side could have added to their lead just a minute later when Beto Carranza found Fabian Caballero at the near post and he tried to back-heel the ball into the net but sent it wide.

He had more luck after 61 minutes when he added to the Tayzurri's goal tally.

Temuri Ketsbaia cheekily back-heeled the ball to Massimo Beghetto in the box and he played it to Fabian Caballero who curled his shot into the back of the net.

Motherwell had already drawn level once during this game and they tried to mount another comeback as the game went into the last 20 minutes - and only a top-class save from Jamie Langfield prevented the Fir Park side from pulling a goal back when he blocked a point-blank shot from Stuart Elliott.

Dundee could have put the game beyond Motherwell when Alessandro Romano tried his luck with a 30-yard drive but the effort fell just over the crossbar.

But Motherwell remained undeterred and they called the Jamie Langfield into action once again when he produced a good save to deny Kelly the chance to add his name to the scoresheet.
