Losing Streak Continues for Quins Ladies
By Jo Everett November 22 2004
The Harlequin Ladies suffered yet another defeat on Sunday, at the hands of table-toppers, Old Albanians, (Harlequin Ladies 0 – Old Albanians 72).
Quins received the kick-off and recycled the ball well from the first breakdown. However, as soon as Quins lost possession, Old Albanians were quick to create the overlap needed to run around and score. This was a pattern of play that Old Albanians were to use again and again to extend their lead: Strong runners close to the breakdowns scked in the Quins defence, leaving gaps out wide for the visitors to run around. By half-time, Old Albanians had a 0 – 36 lead.

The second half did see Quins put together more organised phases of play to begin to challenge the Old Albanians’ defence. The visitors tackled well, and kept Quins well away from the try line.

As Harlequins tired, Old Albanians continued to capitalise on the gaps they were creating, adding another six tries in the second half.

Once again, despite several positive aspects to their game, the Quins Ladies came away with nothing on the scoreboard. With a week off next Sunday, will their luck finally change, away against Medway, the following week?
