Quins Ladies Suffer Again
By Jo Everett November 15 2004
The Harlequin Ladies travelled all the way to Ipswich to suffer their fourth consecutive defeat, writes Jo Everett. Ipswich 29 Harelquin Ladies 0
Despite the long journey, Quins made a positive start to the game with a strong chase to their kick-off ensuring Ipswich were kept pinned in their own half. Despite a very organised defence by Quins, the home team held on to possession well. When Harlequins were able to turn over the ball, a string of handling errors and needless penalties kept them from making any ground.

Ipswich played a patient game, securing good possession at the breakdowns and edging their way deeper into Quins territory. They then maximised on the strong running of their inside-centre to break through and score.

Quins tightened their defence, but still seemed unable to maintain possession and force Ipswich into a more defensive game.

The second half saw a similar pattern of play, although an excellent interception by Amy Wellington at outside-centre, supported by fellow centre, Tanya Lee, nearly saw Quins get onto the scoreboard.

As the game wore on, Ipswich made the most of the cracks appearing in the now exhausted Quins defence, adding four more tries late in the second half.

Although disappointed to suffer yet another league defeat, Quins coach, Dave Moloney, did note that there were many positives to build on, including the improved organisation in the first half. Quins now need to work on their attacking options in order to get out of their losing streak.
