Quins started well straight from their own kick off, threatening deep into BG territory. The match was halted after 1 minute and 36 seconds when the BG No 8 unfortunately landed on her prop in a ruck, breaking her leg in 2 places. Due to the prompt action of a spectating paramedic, the player in question didn’t need to have an operation as he straightened her ankle before the ambulance arrived.
To the disappointment of the Quins players and fans who had turned out to watch, the decision was taken to call off the game, with the opposition feeling unable to continue and the failing light. The match will now have to be replayed sometime in the New Year.
Harlequin Ladies would like to thank Mr Bill Bullingham at Cottesloe Properties Ltd for his kind sponsorship of yesterday’s match. The Ladies last game before Christmas is away to Reading next week for their 1st leg league encounter.
