Quins kicked off to Clifton and immediately put the home team under pressure. They quickly turned over possession, before number 8, Pippa Butt, made a break for the line, popping the ball to Leonie Webster at centre, who finished off the try.
Having set up the first try, Butt went on to score her own just minutes later, taking the ball on from the scrum and powering over the line. Dani Knight, at fly half, followed up with the conversion.
Clifton then tightened up their game, closing down Harlequins ball. Quins played a patient game, edging their way forward until Knight was able to make a break, side-step the Clifton full back and score the first of her 2 converted tries.
The second half saw Harlequins lose their focus, and a more organised attack from Clifton began to challenge the Quins defence. Quins however, kept Clifton out, and a strong chase to one of Knight's clearance kicks, enabled the forwards to drive over the line, with second row, Helen Cushion, securing the try.
The remainder of the second half proved to be quite a scrappy affair, with both teams knocking the ball on to concede countless scrums. Quins continued their attack, with Hannah Greaves (at second row) scoring her debut try from a catch and drive, and Knight's second breakaway try.
Clifton refused to give up on the game and fought back in the final minutes, but the Quins defence remained impenetrable.
