New Signing - Andy Dunne
By The Prof June 10 2003
Andy Dunne is one of three new signings to be coming out way from Leinster. He is a fly half and will be taking David Slemen's position in the squad as Burke's replacement. Then again looking at Dunne's record Burke will be pushed hard for his position.

Andy Dunne received rave reviews when he first came onto the scene a few years ago. He was an extremely promising youngster but he has suffered a lot with injury including a broken leg, ankle and collarbone and he underwent shoulder surgery a few months back.

Dunne scored a try, conversion and penalty when he came on as a replacement against London Irish in Leinster’s pre-season defeat to the team from Reading, a game in which Mike Worsley (another of Quins’ new signings also scored).

With Leincester he has been playing alongside the likes of Shane Byrne, Costello, Girvan Dempsey, Denis Hickie, Malcolm O’Kelly, Eric Miller and Brian O’Driscoll so he should be able to hold his own against anyone in the Premiership.

Dunne wouldn't have been offered a full-time contract with Leinster next season and he has been struggling to get into the starting line up at Donnybrook. So he had the choice of going to Connacht or coming to us, and thankfully he will be playing in our quartered shirt for the next two seasons.
