It was a great start for Quins, when just minutes into the game, a break by Number 8, Leah Carey, set up Alex Burbidge's try. Chesham fought back hard and Quins were suddenly playing a much more defensive game.
Although, Quins regained possession through countless Chesham penalties, they were unable to recreate their early form, and failed to gain much ground. For much of the first half, Quins were stuck deep in their own twenty-two, with Chesham's strong kicking game adding to the pressure. Quins did defend well, however, keeping Chesham from scoring in the first half.
Early in the second half, Chesham's pressure paid off when they broke through the Harlequin's defence to score right under the posts. Harlequins did then begin to attack more successfully, and the hard work of the forwards won them many scrums against the head. Chesham then kept Quins from crossing the gain-line, holding players up and stealing the ball in contact.
In the final minutes of the game, Quins worked their way into Chesham's half and put the visitors under considerable pressure. It was a case of too little too late, leaving Quins with a close, but disappointing defeat.
