London French scored two converted tries and a penalty kick in the first half only. Quins made some concerted efforts but never really looked dangerous. In the second half Quins repelled some strong attacks to hold French at bay with no more points scored. The wet and blustery conditions did the kickers from both sides no favours and at times the style of play was messy. London French had a second row player sin-binned for a late tackle which Quins failed to capitalise on.
Manager Chris Kelly was disappointed in the result but is philosophical considering it was only the teams 2nd loss in the league so far.
I thought we were beaten by a better side, and I thought some of their rugby was attractive. I believe the team they had out against us would have put 70 points against any other side we had played in the league. They had some very good players on this occasion.
Its true every one of our opposition always fields their strongest side - unfortunately thanks to our continuing injury problems we couldnt field our strongest side against them.
Kelly is confident that the result will be different when the return match is played. Theres still a lot of the season left.
Next Sunday the 1st team will meet St Nicholas Old Boys in their first match of the Middlesex Cup.
