This was one of those ideas that came out of a somewhat drunken conversation in the early hours of Sunday morning at Henley. It may not work but let's give it a lash and see what happens.

The man pictured is Martyn Constable, landlord of the Horse and Groom in Henley. A thoroughly decent pub by the way, well worth a visit if you are in town. As an aside, it was his idea of having a fresh quote posted behind the bar every day that led me to do the same with the messageboard.  

Martin is no stranger to silliness having once been a Morris Dancer, something he's surprisingly ready to admit. So when, at Henley, I asked him to pose bewigged in front of that day's quote, which happened to be 'London Irish is a State of Mind' - Robin Clive, he was more than willing to do so. 

Just after this photo was taken someone, it could have been me but I honestly don't remember, came up with the daft idea that the wig should be sent travelling, collecting small souvenirs from the places it has visited along the way. Martin then attached a Henley Regatta Stewards Enclosure badge to it and we sent it off to Cornwall with JoeV

The wig has now returned from Cornwall complete with a London Cornish RFC badge and is in the custody of Bisach who is tasked with bringing it to Leeds next week then passing it on to another traveller. If nobody is doing anything more interesting before then, Torbs will send the wig to Amsterdam with one of the Marauders who are celebrating the 30th birthday of their club at the End of the month.

Those of you who have read this thread on the messageboard will know that we've already had some great suggestions. From this two firm bookings that have been made thus far.It will cycle with Annette in the States in October and go with the Marauders to the Dubai World Sevens in the first week of December. Where else it goes before, after and in-between is up to those who have travel plans and the inclination to go along with this idea.

Where and when it will end it's travels is still up for debate. When we set it off on it's travels the initial thought was that it should return there for next years Henley Seven's. Since then, bringing it to the RWC in October 2003 has also been suggested.

As I said at the start of this item, the idea may not work, let's just give it a try.
