Newcastle will be looking to consolidate their place in the top six and possibly challenge for a Champions League place for the second year in succession. The Wanderers will be looking for only their second home win of the season as they look to gain vital Premiership points as they fight bravely against relegation yet again.
Bolton will be looking to build on their good second half performance in their previous match against fellow strugglers West Ham and take advantage of a Newcastle side who were irresistable last season but have slightly stuttered this season. On their day, however, Newcastle are certainly one of the finest teams in the Premiership and Bolton will have to be on their guard against the likes of Welsh international striker Craig Bellamy and former England captain Alan "Give us an elbow" Shearer.
The prospect of facing such a potent strikeforce as Bellamy and Shearer is frightening at the best of times but when you consider that the deadly duo will be facing a Wanderers defence bereft of the likes of Bruno N'Gotty and Ivan Campo it is certainly likely they will be a constant danger. One worry for Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce is the fact that it is likely there will be no real pace in the Bolton back line to counter the electrifying speed of former Norwich front man Bellamy.
Allardyce may consider replacing Kevin Nolan, who's performances this season haven't reached the dizzy heights of last term, with former Turkish Under 21 international Akin Bulent who is yet to start a League game for Bolton. However, Allardyce may consider Bulent's poor disciplinary record for the reserves and decide against throwing the Turk into the cauldron of a Premiership match without a couple of substitute appearances to get him used to the English top flight.
Other than those mentioned above, Allardyce has no other selection problems other than who to play up front. Danish striker Henrik Pedersen has performed consistently well all season but he may be replaced by England striker Michael Ricketts who scored his first goal from open play in eleven months at Upton Park last week.
Those without tickets for tomorrow's game are advised not to travel. It is sure to be a great game, COME ON YOU WHITES!
