Stirling & Stranraer draw at Forthbank

Ach!
By Callum N April 2 2005
In a game which Stranraer needed to win today to stay right ahead of Morton they got a respectable point but with Morton's shock win over Brechin City at Glebe Park the pressure is really on. The Bandstand reports, live from the Forthbank Car Park.
BINOS 1-1 BLUES
Stranraer went to Stirling today to play The Binos whom they hadnt beaten since 1874 (or at least it seems that way. The game kicked off and was a dull affair for the first 20 minutes. Stirling had a lot of the ball but were unable to make any real in-roads to The Blues defence. On 28 minutes Micky Moore was brought down just outside the box and Lee Sharp struck in a blinding free kick which went around the ball turned left in mid-flight and went flying past Hogarth to go in.

Stranraer had further chances in the first half to make the game safe with McManus and Savoy Finlayson having chances to extend the lead but it wasne meant to be.

In the second half Stranraer looked tired and sat back just asking for trouble and it was Stevie Aitken's brother who scored on 52 minutes after The Bino's had time to work a good passing move around our box.

The story was much the same for the rest of the half, Stranraer sitting back, trying to score on the break but The Bino's looking fairly comfortable for the point, they could even have stolen it at the end when Glancy went close. The Blues had half chances from Gucci Gaughan and Savoy Finlayson but at the end of the match a draw was a fair result and on any normal day would have been a good point. Today was not a normal day!

On to Berwick next week but Stranraer need that win!
