Prokas to return to Carlisle?
By Scott Hilsden
July 16 2002
The fans chanted 'Release the Prokas' but it was meant in reference to that tackle on Vieira but Cambridge Evening News report that U's manager John Taylor is releasing him in a different way.
That’s right folks, the 'Beck Player' that was reported to be on his way out the club is Richard Prokas who in 16 months at the club has made just 9 first team appearances. As it has been reported on other websites since the end of last season Prokas is set for a return to former club Carlisle United. However it appears it would cost the club some money as the CEN reports that Prokas has been offered a settlement for the remainder of his contract, which still has a year to run. If Prokas does except the offer then he would become a free agent and be able to head 'home' to Carlisle.

Taylor told the Cambridge Evening news that talks have gone on and its now time for Prokas to decide, JT also said that Prokas has trained well during pre-season, but as with the situation other players the club still have to slim the squad and the wage bill.

Else where the CEN reports that last seasons player of the year Lionel Perez looks like he may be playing in his homeland of France next year where he is on trial with an unnamed club, this causing Lionel to have to pull out of John Taylor’s Testimonial Ball on Saturday night which is set to feature players past and present. More details on which can be found on the official John Taylor Testimonial Website
