F1 - FIA and FOTA meet in London
By Ernesto Nigro June 11 2009
Meeting in London underway to find solution between FIA and FOTA

After months of public and private debates, posturing and chest beating, a final effort is being made by both the FIA and FOTA to find common ground and a resolution to issues that could possibly destroy Formula One as we know it.  Max Mosley has been tinkering with the rules and regulations that govern the sport so much so, as to create artificial competition and sensationalized results.  In some cases, such as this season, it has backfired tragically.  The currently proposed changes to the 2010 F1 season has 8 out of 10 current teams no longer willing to participate in the championship.

Reports are that Max Mosley and the FIA are willing to reach a compromise with  FOTA.  This compromise would include the removal of the 'two tier' rules for 2010, and that they are willing to agree to a higher budget cap for next year.  The FIA are insisting on the original budget cap for 2011, however they are willing to leave exempt the salary of one highly paid key member of staff.  In a letter to Ferrari's Luca di Montezemelo, The FIA proposed that technical assistance from the F1's BIG teams be shared with new entry teams to the sport. FOTA teams have already put forth the same proposal

There is also the slight possibility of a provisional agreement to sign a new Concorde Agreement that would be valid until 2012.

Formula One, the FIA and Max Mosley have been entangled in politics and scandals over the past few years.   As a fan of motor racing and Formula One which was once considered the pinnacle of motorsports, I can only hope that an agreement can be reached so we can all get back to some real action on the track!
